Business details

Mediterranean Environmental Protection Agency (“MEPA”, “we”, “us”) is an incorporated association in Western Australia, under the Associations Incorporation Act 2015. We work on pollution of the Mediterranean Sea and are based in Limassol, Cyprus.

Email: admin@mepa.ngo. Registration reference: Application for incorporation no. 1927039, Associations and Charities (Consumer Protection Division), Department of Local Government, Industry Regulation and Safety, Western Australia. We do not yet have an ABN or charity registration, and we do not claim any.

What the site is

The site describes MEPA’s work and plans, publishes our investigations, and lets you contact us and give. It is information only. It is not legal, financial, scientific, environmental or safety advice, and you should not rely on it as such.

Much of what the site describes is planned or in progress, and each item says so. A plan or concept (including the MEPA Orbital satellite concept) is not a promise that something will be built or delivered. Targets and figures are goals unless we say they are measured results.

Some satellite scenes, analyst overlays, the MEPA Orbital film and some photographs are AI-generated illustrations of the system we are building. They are not records of real incidents.

Reports and emergencies

We are not an emergency service and we do not monitor reports in real time. If life is in danger or a spill is happening now, contact the emergency services or the coastal authority first. We read reports, check what we can, and pass what we can verify to the authority that can act. We cannot guarantee that a report will lead to any action. A detection or a report is a lead, not proof, and we do not publish an accusation against a named person or company on a tip or a single detection alone.

Using the site

Please do not misuse the site: do not try to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to it or the donation desk, do not send unlawful, abusive or misleading material, and do not use automated tools to submit the forms. We may block access to protect the site and its users.

What you send us

If you send us a report, photograph or other material, you confirm that you have the right to send it and that it does not break the law or anyone’s rights. You allow us to use it to check and follow up your report and, in anonymised form and without your name unless you agree, in our work and publications. You keep ownership of it.

Our content

Unless a page says otherwise, the text, design and original images on the site belong to MEPA or are used with permission. You may link to the site and quote short extracts with credit. Please ask before reproducing more. Names and marks of other organisations belong to them, and we use them only to say what they are. We do not imply that they endorse us.

Our responsibility

We try to keep the site accurate and available, but we provide it “as is”, and we do not promise that it is complete, current or free of errors or interruptions. To the extent the law allows, MEPA is not liable for loss arising from your use of or reliance on the site. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any right or liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including rights under the Australian Consumer Law and consumer laws that apply where you live.

Donations and gifts

Donations and gifts of items are governed by Donations and refunds.

Governing law and changes

These terms are governed by the law of Western Australia, and the courts of Western Australia have non-exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection that the mandatory law of the country where you live gives you. We may update these terms, and the date above shows when. Using the site after a change means you accept it.
