What we need
Fund a specific thing, and see it arrive.
Each need has a price in Monero, with a euro estimate. Your donation fills its bar. When it is bought you get the receipt and a picture, and it joins the log of what has been funded.
Priced in Monero. The euro figure is our estimate at the rate of €536.55 per XMR on 2026-10-20. We refresh the rate every few days, and when it moves a lot before we buy, we say so on the need.
Prices are estimates. They come from supplier listings seen on 2026-10-20, and we ask for a quote before buying. If the price paid is lower, the difference goes to the next open need. If a need is not filled within 90 days, we use what was given for a similar need and say so here.
Only confirmed money counts. The bar moves when a person at MEPA has confirmed your donation. Donations are anonymous, and this page shows only totals.
Used parts. Some used parts are fine if tested (a processor, memory). Storage and anything holding evidence is always bought new.

The analysis server
Where radar scenes are screened for oil. It will sit in Western Australia, where our founder lives. Parts are priced separately so a gift can finish one.
Server processor: AMD EPYC 7532
A 32-core AMD EPYC 7532 for the analysis server that screens Sentinel-1 radar scenes.
Seen at about €150 to €370, used and new. It must be a generic AMD part, not one fused to a Dell or Lenovo board.
0.466 XMR about €250

Server motherboard: Supermicro H12SSL-i
The board the processor and memory sit on. Eight memory slots and room for a graphics card later.
Seen at about €910 from a marketplace seller; we will ask distributors for a quote.
1.771 XMR about €950

Server memory: 128 GB ECC (4 × 32 GB)
Radar scenes are large. 128 GB lets the server hold a scene and its working copies in memory.
New modules were about €325 each. Used ones should cost less, and any saving goes to the next need.
2.423 XMR about €1,300

Server fast storage: 4 TB NVMe drive
Where scenes are processed.
Storage is always bought new. A used drive is a malware and data risk.

Server archive: two 20 TB hard disks
A year of scenes and the evidence archive, in two copies.
SATA, not SAS, so they work with the board above.

Server processor cooler
The large EPYC socket needs a cooler made for it.

In the field
Equipment for volunteers and measurements, mostly in Cyprus.
50 litter pickers
Folding aluminium reachers of about 80 cm, so volunteers can clear a beach without bending over or touching what they pick up.
Bulk offers start near €6 each at 50 units, plus freight and import tax. We order a sample first, because cheap folding jaws break.
0.932 XMR about €500

50 pairs of cut-resistant gloves
Protection against glass and sharp plastic on a clean-up. They do not stop needle punctures, so volunteers never pick up syringes by hand.
About €10 to €11 a pair.
1.006 XMR about €540

Handheld water meter: pH, conductivity, temperature
Baseline readings for the sea and for runoff, taken with a calibration log so they can be trusted later.
Listed at between €185 and €473 depending on the supplier. We price it at the high end until we have a quote, and any saving goes to the next need. This meter cannot measure oil in water; that needs a lab.
0.885 XMR about €475

Radiation detector: Radiacode 110
A pocket gamma detector that also identifies isotopes. For screening beaches and sediment and for spotting radioactive scale from oil and gas work.
A screening tool. Any finding is confirmed in a laboratory before we say anything about it.

One high-resolution radar scene over a reported spill
Free radar imagery has a coarse resolution. A single commercial scene shows a slick and the vessel near it in detail.
A scene of about 25 km² was listed at around US$675. We publish what we find.

Later
Things we will need but are not ready to fund. We show them so you can see what is coming. You cannot give to them yet.
Server power supply and case
A power supply of 750 W or more with the right connectors, and a case with good airflow.
No reliable price yet.
Not open for funding yet
Uninterruptible power supply
Keeps the server and the archive safe through short power cuts.
No reliable price yet.

More server memory, up to 256 GB
A second set of four modules, once the first is working.
Not open for funding yet
A graphics card for training models
Needed only when we train our own detection model. Running an existing one on a small area works on the processor.
Used cards were about US$1,250 to $1,450.

Handheld thermal camera
Shows thick oil and warm discharges, and makes night checks possible. It does not show a thin sheen.
We could not confirm a price for a camera of this resolution.
Not open for funding yet
Thermal drone
Covers a stretch of coast that a handheld camera cannot.
Roughly €5,000 to €6,500. We open it for funding only after we know what registration, insurance and permission flying it needs under Cyprus and EU rules.
Not open for funding yet
Multiparameter water probe with dissolved oxygen
Adds dissolved oxygen and salinity to the handheld readings.
No reliable price. Expect a few thousand euros; we need a distributor quote.

Microplastics sampling kit
A towed net, sieves and a microscope to count particles on the surface.
The nets we found are built to be towed behind a vessel. We need one suited to our boats.

Long-term plan
Bigger things we plan to work towards. We do not ask for money for them yet.
MEPA-1: our own satellite
A long-term concept: a 200 kg satellite, built for seven years or more, that looks at the sea in colour and heat, listens for ships, and gives MEPA its own view of chosen areas of the Mediterranean, designed to work alongside free radar imagery.
Planned, not funded, and not open for donations. We prove the need first with free and bought imagery, and decide on building, or renting a place on another satellite, with evidence in hand.

If you would rather give the item, offer it. We do not publish an address. You tell us what you have, we reply on your private token page, and only then do you get a place to send it.
We accept new items, and used processors and memory that you have tested. We do not accept used drives, boards or network cards. Tell us how old it is, whether it works, and where you are.
